We are very pleased to welcome Bobby Clennell for another one day workshop. Bobby has been a direct student of B.K.S. Iyengar, Prashant Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar, and has been teaching Iyengar yoga for over 40 years. Bobby is a core faculty member at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York.
Author and illustrator of The Woman's Yoga Book, Watch Me Do Yoga and Yoga for Breast Care, Bobby’s teaching style is strong, energetic, precise and kind. She is also the creator of Yoga Yantra, a short animated film, based on the movements of B.K.S. Iyengar during his own yoga practice. For more information: www.bobbyclennell.com
According to yogic principles, everything in the universe, including our body, is made up of five subtle elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether (space). Our own beings also comprise five “sheaths” or koshas: Annamaya Kosha, Pranamaya Kosha, Manomaya Kosha, Vignanomaya Kosha and Anandamaya Kosha. In this workshop, through a variety of asana and pranayama, we will explore and bring into balance our own unique expression of these forces. We will also learn where the koshas and elements meet and how these intersections inform our practice.
10am – 1pm: The standing poses pranasize the element of earth in our legs and we develop strength and stamina. But while earth is grounding, in order that it does not oppress, it has to be balanced by the other elements and other poses, i.e., jumpings, twists and inversions.
2pm - 4pm: We practise the back bends to spark the element of fire and stimulate creativity. Forward bends cool us down again. Inversions help us touch the deepest layers of our subtle, wisdom body.
Advance booking is strongly advised for this workshop, as space is limited. Not only does it secure your place, it allows us to contact you if there are any last-minute changes. Please note, this workshop is only for people with two or more years experience in Iyengar yoga. Workshop costs:NELIYI members £32; NELIYI members concessions £25; Non-members £40(please note that the concessionary rate, for those on a low income, is only available to NELIYI members).
